Grants
More than $300,000 has been given in grants since the Foundation's inception in 2000
Huronia Communities Foundation exists to support other charities whose work helps make Huronia a better place in which to live… a charity for charities. The Foundation funds initiatives from a broad spectrum of interests including arts and culture, health, education, sports and recreation, social services, youth, seniors, relief of poverty, animal welfare, and the environment.

The following are some of the recipients:
Good Food Box - Garry Morehouse, Executive Director of the Huronia Communities Foundation, presents a cheque for $1000 to Michelle McIlravey, Good Food Box Coordinator. The North Simcoe Good Food Box is an initiative of a number of community non-profit agencies desiring to promote good nutrition. Good Food Boxes include an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. |

Quest Art School & Gallery recently received $1,500 from LabX and the Youth Endowment Funds administered by the Huronia Communities Foundation. The generous grant money will be used for the Young Artists! program. Accepting the donation from Yvonne Wismer, seated centre, and demonstrating the skills they gained in Handbuilding with Clay are Sophia Newhook (left), Mikayla Westbury and Dimitri Pantis, accompanied by instructor Ruth Hurdle.
Quest Art School & Gallery offers workshops for children ages 5 to 18. |

Huronia Performing Arts for Children. The Grant was used to defray the cost of advertising, artist fees and the rental of a sound system for the Sankofa African Drum and Dance Ensemble production to celebrate Black History Month.

Boys and Girls Club of Simcoe launched county wide After School Program. Locally, the Midland Youth Centre was able to assist 30 elementary students with homework support, health education and recreation courtesy of the
T & L Gay Fund.
The Canadian Hearing Society for visual smoke alarms to help seniors in need with significant hearing loss living alone. |

MS Midland, Super Cities Walk, purchased a wheelchair and assisted with household help and childcare arrangements for families in need with MS courtesy of the T & L Gay fund.
Penetanguishene Library to purchase Large Print books for seniors.
Huronia Crises Pregnancy Centre for website design and to purchase a refurbished laptop. |

La Maison Rosewood Shelter sent12 women and 30 children to an adventure empowerment camp courtesy of the Ontario Children and Youth in Recreation Fund.
Serenata Choir to purchase copies of music books for community-based activities.
Couchiching Conservancy held
public events such as the “Mother” Earth Day to educate the public in conservation and sustainable ecology courtesy of the Environmental Fund. |

Midland Public Library purchased subscriptions to Discovery and Popular Science magazines, high technology books and sponsored a reading series by various authors courtesy of the LabX Corporation. |

Community Living Huronia supported two individuals to attend Camp Prospect for one week each courtesy of the J. J. Gignac Fund.
Askennonia Senior Centre for CPR training sessions to 20 to 30 volunteer and paid program instructors.
YMCA – Midland for the purchase of gym equipment. |

Wye Marsh was able to cover some of the medical and service costs for the Trumpeter Swan program courtesy of the LabX Corporation.
Eat Well to Excel upgraded

Wendat to assist in a Shared Care program with the Mental Health Centre.
Canadian Diabetes Association to purchase a LCD projector for community presentations.
Endangered Domestic Animal Sanctuary to assist in paying veterinarian services and food for unwanted animals. |

Atlantic Challenge Canada received a grant towards their summer sailing and
rowing competition in Genoa Italy. The Canadian team placed second in the event. The cheque was presented to Heather Stewart by Randy Robbins. Randy created the fund to assist individuals further their life experience, education and social skills with a focus on youth initiatives. The goal is to help promote life experiences through music, art, travel, and sports. |

Caps 4 Kids made hats for children facing serious surgery and cancer treatments and the Midland Youth Centre of the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre promoted their youth programs as recommended by the foundation’s Youth Advisory Council courtesy of Day Specialties Corporation. |

Midland Seniors’ Council
A Grant from the LabX Fund to the Midland Seniors’ Council to assist with the Seniors Show Case at the Mountainview Mall.
Kinark Child & Family Services to help respite volunteers provide regular 2-4 hours of care per week to children with emotional, behavioral and social problems. |

Midland Heritage Committee
This grant was used to revise the Walking Tour Brochure of Midland in order to emphasize the captains’ houses and other heritage homes. |
